Come to think of it, I can almost light a cigar on the
ashtray, but the rest stays cool because of the amount of padding I
have.

Have checked the transmission ( car's a manual shift! ) - my only
thoughts is insulation and / or exhaust heat. I have a ashtray mounted
on the tunnel and this get hot! There is definitey some insulation,
obviously not enough.

In taking out my car (1971 Volvo - 3L (#3V5808 )for a few runs this
summer, I'm getting alot of heat coming from the bottom of the car.
The most significant area is about 1 ft behind the gear stick. Only
thoughts I have is that it needs extra insulation (heat shield!). Is
this road heat! exhaust! - checked gear box ?? Any thoughts!
