I measure at 8 5/8" from back side of front upright to the
front side of the motor mount. Knowing that each car was handbuilt, you
can most likely assume 8 1/2" or thereabouts will get the job done.

I was actually working on it this weekend and have now sucessfully
removed both mounts from the wrong positions! I've had two people
measure for me and give me a measurement of 8 1/4" between the chassis
upright and the mount. So if you also confirm this then I am onto a
winner!! I am going to get a gearbox soon, and of course new flywheel,
clutch assembly and spigot bearing, oh and propshaft as I can not get
my old one out of the old box (and suspect it's got the wrong output
anyway!).
Lots to do! but then I'll be back on track!
