A arms,  yes of course, I remember know, we actually sometimes call them so
in here in Denmark
too (hmm... :)

Actually for track racing (compared to rally) they are fine like they are,
and I also want to keep the weight down. If they were stronger the front
frame will bend instead or maybe even the wood will be damaged, in case...
Here in Europe I think it's only on the chassis, that the FIA historic
rules, allow some local stiffening.

     We call them A Arms in the States. A simple way to strengthen them is
to
  box the 4th side of the C sections of the A Arm with the same guage steel
  strip. This is an allowable mod. to standard components in US Historic
  Racing.
