The windshield rubber does hold the headliner in place at the top of the
window on cars around that vintage. I can't recall the exact cross section
shape but I have a section of the rubber at home. I'll check it out next
weekend and let you know.
Regarding carpeting, it's fitted over the sills, on the rear parcel shelf,
on the floor from the seats forward and (I'm pretty sure, though not 100%
certain) down the sides of the footwells from dashboard forward. I'm a
little hazy on the last part because I haven't been in the car since
November. Again, I'll confirm following my return home next weekend. As far
as I know, the centre transmission tunnel was never carpeted by the factory,
though some people may have done it themselves.
Regards,
Paul

Hello All
Did the 1969 GT come with a windshield seal that incorporated
an interior rubber lip that would hold the headliner in place at the
top of the window ( in cross section it would look like an "H")
or was it like the present day seal that in cross section looks
like an"H" with one leg cut off.......if the latter is true was the
headliner held in by the window once installed a la the Ford Mustang.
Also, I remember Paul Dransfield talking about where carpet was
and wasn't on these cars ....Paul could you please send that info
again........oh and was the trans tunnel always covered with vinyl or
was there carpet on some years.
