Bonnet hinge Paul Dransfield

2003-02-01 by Jack Myers

Hello Paul
Can you see from the drawing (the one that has written bottom left, the bearings are 60052RS).That the spigot is fastened to the chassis rail with an 8mm set screw and that if a spanner is placed in the rebate and turned, then the spigot will turn eccentrically. Which in turn, will move the bonnet up and down ,back and forth.
Now if you look at the cup (blue in the drawing), the larger two squares are the top and bottom part of the bearing(60052RS) cut in half.
The bearing is put in the cup before the cup is fitted to the wood.
I fitted mine to new wood but if it is a requirement to use the old wood then the dimensions just need changing to suite the hole in the wood work.
I did make a cover plate to fit the inside to finish it off (see photo') but I decided that with the new wood it might look prettier with just the spigot passing through. So I cut the hole to accept the cup just 1 1/2 plies short of cutting all the way through.
One photo shows the plastic coated finisher that in the end I chose not to use.
I hope that I have been of some help.
Best Regards Jac
