Ron,
You just need to drive more! That way you
won't have to wait 30 years. Hopefully in 30 years I'll see you coming
down the road in your Mantis. We might be towng a hydrogen fuel cell but
we'll still be around!!

This may be of no interest to anyone other than Mantis owners, but who
knows.
My Mantis developed a noticeable vibration on acceleration and at steady
highway speeds. Turned out to be the driveshaft U-joints. ; There are 2 -
one just behind the overdrive, and the other immediately in front of the
rear axle differential. But wait - they're not the same! The front U-joint
is TR6. The rear U-joint is unknown. We managed to find a replacement
U-joint that had the proper dimensions, and had to increase the bores on the
yokes by a few thou to get it to fit. The provenance of this new U-joint is
completely unknown, but not to worry, as I have an identical spare. This
means that when the U-joint fails again in another 30 years, I will have the
needed part. Trouble is, I'll be 87 then, and won't remember where I stored
it.
