Laserstar & Jetstar

2004-09-27 by Thomas

Hi
does anyone have any good or bad experiences with Laserstar or Jetstar Paper that's available from Farnell, and if so what printer are you using to get miraculous results that we all crave for ? its suppossed to absorb more Toner/Ink than normal, I tried the LaserStar but the results dont look dark enough IMO and the Jetstar I am still waiting for it to arrive.....
I'd be keen to try the TT method again but non of the mentioned papers here in this forum are available in the paper shops ( Indonesia ) and talking to the sales people you get the screen saver look !

I read in a previous post not sure what thread it was, that someone wished to print direct with a Laser onto the PCB you can..... check out http://www.dupont.com/pcm/riston/laserseries.html they talk about using UV Argon Lasers ...... I want one !!

diy PCB's are a lot of work at times and the results come and go.

Regards
Thomas

Laserstar film worked fine for me, with my old LJ IIIp. I haven't tried it
yet with my LJ 5p, as tracing paper seems to work just as well, and is a lot
cheaper.

I can't help you with your request but can assure you that once you
get skilled at it, it doesn't take that long and your results can be
outstanding. When I started out it took me a couple of hours or more
to make one with pretty variable results. Now I've got the process
down to under an hour start to finish and the results are highly
predictable (and good!) Also, if you transfer a number of boards and
batch up the etching, you can also save time (set up/clean up).

Hi Thomas,

I use JetStar film from Rapid Electronics
<http://www.rapidelectronics.co.uk>, order code 39-0780 for a pack of
10. It works well for me with an Epson Stylus 670 + aftermarket ink, set
for photo/glossy paper. The contrast is excellent.
