MicroMark Etching System

MicroMark Etching System

2004-09-20 by mikeromp2002

Greetings,
Was wondering if anyone has any input / thoughts on the recently
released MicroMark etching system? You can see it at their website,
item number 83123 or use their Plating/Etching link.

Wonder if they would sell the laminator by itself?

Mike

The same question came up on a model railroading list. It would probably work OK for PCBs, but I have my doubts about its functionality in chem milling metal sheet of any thickness. If you are going to produce any quantity of PCBs, I think you can do better buying the various components through sources I found through this list.

From the "how it works" box, this just looks like good old
traditional photo-etch. The laminator is only there to make the
laminate adhere to the metal for the duration of the UV exposure so
is unlikely to be high pressure/temperature.

Print>expose>develop>etch

Laminator appears to 4" wide though and there is a question of
thickness. The kit can be a bargain for some people. For me- I
already have a laminator that works. Mike

The laminator appears to be to laminate the photosensitive film onto
the metal. It looks an awful lot like it's just an ID badge laminator
modified to take thicker stuff.

From another group, the laminator is 3" wide. It won't take thicker materials like circuit boards.
