Q: How many of you are designing your own PCB's and what software
do you prefer and why?

Very old version of EE Designer II (very fast, absolutely stable, DOS/Win9x)
Current version of Cadint PCB <www.cadint.com> <www.cadint.se> (harder to
use, extremely powerful, absolutely stable, Win9x/2K/NT/XP. I use Cadint
to post-process the layouts I generate in EEDII - this includes any ground
planes or multi-layer stuff as well as Gerber generation.

I *still* use EEDII for most of my simple layouts 'cuz its just so much
quicker for me (15 plus years using it). However, I now use Cadint for my
complicated layouts.

About 30% of my layouts are single-sided (*much* more difficult than
double-sided). Component placement is *everything*.

I use Pulsonix: http://www.pulsonix.com

It's easy to use, bugs get fixed quickly, and support is excellent.

Do they a trial mode, like so many nodes can be designed by a
hobbyst, similar to Target or Eagle? Mike

this question comes up about once a month. the most recent one was
about 2 weeks ago. If you search you'll find quite a few postings on
probably 10 different packages.

Maybe some one could capture all those comments and post a file...

I've been using Eagle. It gets the job done, but nobody asks if it has
a twin sister at home.

Rob:

Infrequently. Software? My own brain and a pencil! Maybe some
pressure-transfer resist. (I'm talking one-each). Why? One-each!

Anytime I need 10 or more, I use a local "PC House".

In demo mode, the limit is 100 pins, OK for small designs. They will supply
a 30 day license, for a full evaluation.

I stared a folder in the links section.

post your favorite software and make the subject line notes as shown.

If that does not work, we'll do a database so people can offer more
details.

I agree that there is little new so the question just gets repetitive
answers.

I already had a folder, PCB and CAD Programs, full of links suggested
by people here. I renamed it Schematic, PCB, and CAD Programs and
moved your link for WinQCAD over. Eagle was already there.

Please look in there, and if your favorite Schematic Capture/PCB
program is not there, add it.
