I have succesfully used paint.
Together with a good quality artwork brush it works fine.

Maybe nailpolish work ? Small bottles easy to steal at home ,brush
included. But beware of the mrs.

It's said to work with strong acids but I've never tried.
Works well with ferrochlorid.

After etching I remove the paint with Aceton (Propanon CH3COCH3).

I have problems using acetone.
If i use it to remove the toner from toner transfer it
solves the epoxy pcb surface and smears the toner into it.
Laquer thinner (containing toluenme/xylene) does only solve the toner,
not the epoxy. But i do not like toluene/xylene for health reasons.

I also tried IPA and denatured alcohol but both do hardly solve the toner.

I scrape away the toner now, any i'm wondering what you guys use..

nail polish works very well except it takes a little time to dry (hot
air gun works great on it). works well in ammonium perchlorate.

acetone is an awesome resist remover, especially on toner which comes
off in seconds with an old toothbrush.

And it is not rubbing into the epoxy?

why is this happening only to me?

are you using undiluted acetone?

I'm not surprised it is attacking the boards, i use it regularly to
solvent-glue plastic, but you guys repeatedly say it works for pcbs and
i wonder why it doesn't work for me.

It's not just you. I have problems with acetone smearing the resist
into the surface of the board as well. Haven't found a solution,
although it doesn't seem to be consistent - some boards are much
better than others.

good to hear.
not sure what could solve the problem - scraping and then finishing off
the rest with IPA works for me now, but i think it only works with brittle
toner.

Water? It's like diluting alcohol.

Hmmm... I will have to TRY that! I woulda thought it'd be like diluting
gasoline with water! Or lacquer thinner and water. Hmmm... You SURE???

On FR4 I get a very small amount of staining. It is a slight bluish
mottling which I can certainly live with. Its barely visible.

I dont think water works well with acetone. If I haven't completely
dried off the board, the toner will not disolve.

Acetone is miscible with water, like ethanol.
