I've just bought a LaserJet 5P on eBay (30 GBP). It's working fine and is *much* better than my old IIIp for doing PCB artwork, the tracks are a lot more dense and sharp. Leon -- Leon Heller, G1HSM http://www.geocities.com/leon_heller

I use tracing paper for the transparencies. I've just made a PCB with 10 mil tracks - the results were excellent. I'll try 8/8 next. Leon

The IIIp served me well, and I upgraded supposedly to a 4 and it was absolutely terrible alignment wise, so I went back to the IIIp. The 5 is a much better printer, and I'm glad they fixed the alignment issues!!! I've never used tracing paper before, I bought 50 sheets of Great White Transparency material before Walmart stopped carrying it. When I run out, I'll need to investigate the tracing paper. Besides that, it has to be less money than transparency film. Ron

Tracing paper works very well, I buy it by the A4 size pad from the local stationers. Being very stingy, I don't use a whole sheet at a time - I cut a piece a bit bigger than the board, stick it to a piece of A4 paper in the correct position with a piece of masking tape (I only use one piece of tape, at the top) and then feed that manually.
