What about alps type printers?

What about alps type printers?

2004-03-14 by ballendo

Hello,

Has anyone looked into the possibilities of the alps type printers?

Being film based, they might make some things easier...

Here's a Yahoo group:

  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/alpsdecal/

Hope this helps,

Ballendo

Yes, and no it doesn't work. The copper apparently draws away heat to
quickly, and Alps wax thermal transfers by heating the head elements.
And it is -very- sensitive to the exact temperature.

However... some ribbons take higher temperatures than others to
transfer, for instance the metallic, metal foil, and white ribbons. So
if a lower temp ribbon (like black) had a white ribbon sticker put on
it, maybe it would compensate for the heat sink action of the copper.

BTW, there is also http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Alps/
