a question about an etching tank!!!

a question about an etching tank!!!

2004-02-17 by mumin55555

hallo!

i'm making a lot of pcb's in big amounts and i want to built an
etching tank. i wanted to know what is the best way to etch a lot of
pcb's at once, and if there is a way to use less etchent for all the
pcb's. i also want to know how do i heat the etchent every time
without letting it touch heaters made of metal?

thanks a lot
mumin.

Hi Mumin,

Take the jobs outside = more economical and better!!

Spray etching is probably the way to go if you want to minimise the amount
of etchant. Something like an aquarium heater with the element in a glass
envelope should work for heating the etchant; it doesn't need to be all that
hot. Or, you can simply heat the base of the tank from the outside. I think
that is how it is done with those small etching systems that you can buy.

Go to yahoo group Commercial_made_PCBs then
and not to Homebrew_PCBs ;-)

No, to be serious:
if you use a sulphuric etchant you
can have stainless steel etching containers (which you can weld).
and there are stainless steel heaters available.
If it is something else you need plastic containers and heaters in plastic,
or glass, or very expensive metal hulls.

the most simple is most likely to heat the bath from the bottom.

How big amounts are we talking?

Hey Mumin

You can youce a heating element aimed for an akvarium. It it slow, but it is reliable.
