Where can I find SMD pad layout info?

Where can I find SMD pad layout info?

2004-01-24 by jocjo_john

Does anybody know where I can get information for the various
dimensions of the pads for SSOP devices? I want to create the
components in my CAD program but I don't know the recommended pad
sizes. The one I'm working on now is a 20-pin SSOP.

Thanks.

John

Philips has a useful document on their web site with most SMD footprints in
it. They will probably need some adjustment for home-made PCBs and hand
soldering.

Here is something I found that is more generally useful, on the ALTIUM web
site:

http://www.altium.com/libraries/pcb_footprint_search.asp

I typically go to Digi-key, find the device in question and check the
data sheet that is offered.

Then I print out the parts of the data sheet I need to reference all
the time, and save the PDF in the even I need to reference that also.

My thank-you post did not make it, I see. So..

Thanks Leon and Dave. I got the info and finished the job. I knew I
could count on the people in this group for help.
