Apache Al13P Lamanitor modded for PCB work

Apache Al13P Lamanitor modded for PCB work

2014-11-17 by mosaicmerc@...

Hi all:
First post...glad to be here!
I just modded  a new AL13P with the following new features:

Build a single sided thru hole PCB , 2" x 2.5" to add these laminator capabilities:
1) Thermal sensor failure protection
2) Speed control ( down to 1/12th) using multiple automatic fwd/rev passes suitable for synchronous AC motors.
3) Cool down function (push button) for rollers that over rides the heater.
4) No other mods required other than tightening the rollers as standard.
5) Under 2 hours including building the PCB kit.
6) Achieve 10mil traces with 1 oz copper reliably.
7) Plug n Play operation, no soldering or mods to the laminator circuitry. New mod connects directly to OEM 6pin headers with its own cables.
8) Fully reversible mod.
9) Uses baking parchment or magazine paper. Special Toner transfer paper unnecessary.

Tested with HP1102W printing.

I also had no problems with virus warnings on the Hackaday site.

This looks like an interesting project but the documentation is incomplete and it cannot currently be built.

A schematic in addition to the board layouts would be helpful but the code for the PIC is essential.

If the OP is not willing to provide the source, the Hex file for the PIC is still needed for anyone to produce a version of this but would permit no adaptation or modifications. If the source were made available, this could provide an excellent base to improve the use of the AL13P.

Hi Graham:
I am refining the whole write up.....as it has been pointed out that very detailed descriptions are required to enable others to improve the mod. as opposed to just duplicating it.

The entire project will be published. The source is in ASM though, not C as the PIC used is a 12F series unit.
I am also making it available via ClubJameco as a kit for those who want an easy to make solution to get on with the business of PCB prototyping.

If you can please upvote it!

Frank Miller of Pulsar papers (PCBFX) was also very supportive, albeit, they can't direct link to the mod as it enables the use of non Pulsar papers. It does improve productivity with their 'Dry transfer to metal - labeling' product as well.
