Problem printing quality on acetate etc. with Laserjet

Problem printing quality on acetate etc. with Laserjet

2012-09-26 by ferrymanr

My HP2300 prints beautifully on paper. Tracks sharp and solid and I can't fault the image. When I try printing on acetates or, as a friend suggested, tracing paper the print is poor. I am getting good definition but tracks are not solid even with toner density at maximum. On tracing paper there are missed spots along the centre of tracks and on acetate at worst the centre line of each track is clear - it looks almost as if each track is a double line. On a solid block of copper the edge density is good with odd clear spots near the edge and the central part is an even but lowish density.
I would welcome any suggestions as how to improve on this. My inkjet is giving better and even results but I have to stack two acetates to get enough density. I thought the Laserjet would be denser and solid:-(

I get excellent results with JetStar Premium film, from Mega UK:

You might be able to use the cheaper JetStar film with your printer.

They will send you sample sheets if you request them.
