PCB Milling

2012-08-13 by backyardworkshop

Hey guys - over the weekend I worked on milling my own PCB :) I used Diptrace and Ace and milled it out on my homemade CNC machine - came out OK for my first one!

check it out here if anyone's interested http://www.backyardworkshop.com/blog-posts/most-recent/176-milling-a-circuit-board.html

is anyone else using Diptrace and some CAM app to make PCBs on their CNC machine? I would love to see other people's projects and successes as it feels sometimes like I am fumbling around LOL

Thanks Joe I will check that out - It takes dxf or gerber files and
converts to G Code I'm guessing?

It is indeed, but will take a lot penny saving to afford. Give it another
10 years...

I was rather impressed when I saw that, particularly as copper is the
hardest metal to laser; indeed some lasers have their mirrors made from
copper. I later found the trick is they use a UV laser (smaller wavelength
than the CO2 laser most of us can afford).
