Yuk!
Now I know why I cannot get reasonable results with the GBC unit I bought!
So far, I have not found a source for the Lowell Laminator in the US.
If anyone knows where I might purchase the Lowell Laminator to be
delivered in US please post it!

Hi John, You wrote, in part: > So far, I have not found a source for the Lowell Laminator in the US. > If anyone knows where I might purchase the Lowell Laminator to be > delivered in US please post it! Please see my 2012-06-02 message: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Homebrew_PCBs/message/30171 There are two sizes of laminator. For a given size there may be two type numbers: A4 (9 inch): CS-923 or ES-923 (maybe try without the hyphen) A3 (12 inch): CS-1223, CS-1223BP or ES-1223. There may be two case types - and older (I assume) gray-white case and the the newer black or dark gray case which seems identical to the Lowell LOOL280 as sold by Officeworks in Australia (for $20 - I just got a second one.). There are US sellers with the older style case in the 9" model. I guess but don't know that these are very similar inside to the black / dark grey LOOL280: http://www.royalfulfillmentcorp.com/StoreBox/pouchlaminators/cs-923.htm http://www.amazon.com/Royal-Sovereign-9-Inch-Laminator-CS-923/dp/B008587M1Y/ Here is some further research: A new case Royal Sovereign Japan version of the 9" model: http://rsjapan.jp/japan/office-products/cs-923-9-photo-document-laminator.html Two of the photos show the old style case. - Robin http://www.firstpr.com.au/pcb-diy/

Thanks for the information Robin, The unknowns for these devices (other than availability) are the thickness they will hande and the temperature limits. It appears the Howell has been successfully hacked to do exacty what we need. Since I have had some success with iron on toner transfer, the pressure is off for the moment. If someone takes the lead (and the expense) to develop a model available in the US I will probably follow. de John W8CCW --- In Homebrew_PCBs@yahoogroups.com, Robin Whittle <rw@...> wrote: > > Hi John, > > You wrote, in part: > > > So far, I have not found a source for the Lowell Laminator in the US. > > If anyone knows where I might purchase the Lowell Laminator to be > > delivered in US please post it! > > Please see my 2012-06-02 message: > > http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Homebrew_PCBs/message/30171 > > There are two sizes of laminator. Here is a website detailing a very low cost Lowell Laminator and the necessary mods. http://ultrakeet.com.au/index.php?id=article&name=superFuserV2 They claim 1.6 mm (0.062") PCB thickness is OK and you need to replace the thermal fuse and thermostat. On the surface, Lowell appears to be for the Australian market. --- On Thu, 7/12/12, John <jferrell13@....com> wrote:
