Green Film temperature

Green Film temperature

2012-04-13 by sailingto

Hello all, the green film from Pulsar - what is the best temperature to run it thru laminator? I ran thru at 370ºF and that "seemed" like it "might" be a tad hot. It sorta "smeared" on a couple of close traces and I had to use a probe to clean before etching.

Only 1 time thru?

Thanks to all for any info,

"foil" setting, no idea of temperature. Run it twice. I have a
similar problem at times, but I've also had the film simply not
adhere, regardless of temperature.

You want to see an absolutely clear area where there used to be green.

On the other hand, it saves more boards than it ruins....

Ken,

I use a modified GBC laminator, and its limit is 165'C - 169'C [329'F -336'F], i put the green TRF and white TRF through two times and get good results, occasionally there are a few patches [especially over ground planes] that don't adhere, but thats probably due to fingerprint contamination!! are you able to adjust the temperature setting on your laminator? I cannot, but it works fine for TT and TRF.
hope this helps
David

Thank ya'll for info David, Harvey - I've got an Apache laminator and the temp is fully adjustable from 100ºF up to 379ºF - it is better than the GBC I had before. I had put a temperature controller on it but still could only get max of 310ºF due to sensor limits. Just wasn't hot enough for good transfer, but worked with several passes thru.

At 370ºF the green is completely transferred to board - need to cool film/board before removing.

Yes, I do think the green film helps.

Unfamiliar with the green film from Pulsar, do you have a link to it?
