Prototype PCBs

2012-02-11 by nps0

Recently there has been mention/discussion of several free PCB layout programs and inexpensive board suppliers. Out of curiosity, I've compiled the following list to make them easier to find (please feel free to add to the list):

Target 3001:
http://server.ibfriedrich.com/wiki/ibfwikien/index.php?title=Main_Page

Kicad:
http://kicad.sourceforge.net/wiki/Main_Page

Eagle:
http://www.cadsoftusa.com/downloads/freeware/

Designspark:
http://www.designspark.com/pcb

Diptrace:
http://www.diptrace.com/download.php

Itead:
http://iteadstudio.com/store/index.php?cPath=19_20

FAR Circuits:
http://www.farcircuits.net/

No connection with any of them - I use a 1988 version of OrCAD - but it's no longer available, and the current product isn't free.

You could try the OldDosOrcad Yahoo group. They have downloadable versions.

I am a member of that group - but I'm happy with (and accustomed to) the
version I'm using. Biggest fault I find is that it doesn't support USB
printing - and parallel port lasers are rare, these days.

gEDA: GPL, no limitations

Linux and Mac work best, but it runs on Windows too.
