Dry Film Laminator

Dry Film Laminator

2012-01-10 by Robert

my first step to fabricating quality boards...

today the UPS truck left my new:

GMP Photonex-Sync235 9" Laminator with 4 internally heated silicon rollers and digital control

on the doorstep, working in the office all day I just found it,

so very stoked!

an absolutely beautiful sparkling silver finish and very heavy!

no UV light source as such, BUT, I happen to have an old opaque projector with (4) 300Watt halogen bulbs that reflect off of an A3 size glass plate when copy is placed for projection onto a wall, I haven't tried yet but I'm pretty sure I can tape transparency and negative dry film laminated board down to the glass and expose just as I would with a multi tubed UV exposure box.

I'll post results when I get some negative resist film and developer (or positive liquid or spray and developer)

There are some 3W 402nm led's that should work ....

yes, led's could work, I've seen several on youtube and in "image search" when typing "uv exposure unit" on google.

typing "imagesetter" brings some other interesting results, though most appear a bit too large for hobby purposes. this link looks to be promising even if it's lacking very much information about the product, from LaserBlack International?

Besides the crazy expensive Bungard Filmstar Photoplotter,

what are the small, desktop, or even portable solutions to making transparencies that are both dark enough for larger "fill" areas and fine enough for the smallest trace routing?

I was thinking of replacing the bulbs with some .... in a DLP projector ....
true, you need to change the focal length ...

But if an image that was meant to be 12'long and 8'wide refocused at 12"x8" might produce some verry fine images...

Too bad DLP projectors are still silly spendy ....

Im looking for one now ... hopefully with only a burned out bulb...
If it has a color wheel ... just remove it?
