Ebay copper clad - experiences?

Ebay copper clad - experiences?

2011-07-24 by Piers Goodhew

After 2.5 years on this list, I'm coming close to using up my second single-sided 15x15cm FR4 blank. And while the prices at the local hobby electronics place aren't too bad (especially given that I go thru one per year), they're not that handily situated, so I'm thinking about getting some from ebay - five blanks for what I pay for one and delivered to my door.

Broadly, there seem to be two categories: various "miscellaneous" small sellers; and one outfit from Canada. The Canadian operation seems quite reasonably priced and is offering all sorts on intriguing thicknesses (incl some of that faster-etching 0.5oz stuff).

As with a lot of stuff on eBay, it's so cheap I could just go ahead and order from a few sellers, but I thought I'd see if there were any experiences here.

TIA

I buy from a seller named amt33461 here in the USA, he's been around for
a while and always answers his emails. I don't think he has 1/2oz but
he does have plenty of 1/16" and thinner (and thicker ;). He used to
have a zillion ebay pages, but combined them all into one mega-page:

I have ordered several times from abcfab on ebay,

http://stores.ebay.com/PCB-Laminates-Copper-Clad?_trksid=p4340.l2563

He is located in New Hampshire and ships promptly via priority mail (sometimes free shipping). The stock is varied; size, thickness copper weight, color. You just have to browse his inventory to see if he has what you want. I usually order his thinner FR4 0.031 boards.

Ahah. The simplified page works against him/them in searches. I should have
pointed out that I'm in Australia, so many sellers (including Baxter's NH
one) don't ship here. Or, it's 2x the cost of the boards themselves.

I might try the Canuck seller and some Chinese ones and report back (in
another 4-5 weeks when they arrive)

I've also bought from amt33461. The boards were good quality and they
were shipped very quickly. I really don't know how you can avoid the
high shipping charges.

You might want to try this website, Electronic Goldmine
<http://www.goldmine-elec-products.com/products.asp?dept=1034> . I am
looking into ordering from them right now for copper boards but have not
ordered from them before. They do say, under the shipping section, that
the minimum order for international orders is $50.

I got a bunch of 4"x6" SS boards from them a couple of weeks ago.
In the past they had a good selection of carbide PC drills, but it
seems to have shrunk considerably in the last year or so.

Reasonable delivery. No problems.

Seconded, been happily ordering from 'abcfab' for years. Quality material,
but the inventory selection does vary.
