Cleaning Liquid Flux

Cleaning Liquid Flux

2010-11-26 by Johnny B

Anyone know of a quick way to clean up a Liquid Flux spill?

I accidentally dropped a small class bottle of Flux on a tile floor. Everything I tried like household cleaners wouldn't cut it. I did finally use Rubbing Alcohol and it worked for the most part, but there is still a dull look as if it's still there.

How about a can of Flux Remover? :)

If it's still sticky I would say it's not cleaned but if the stickiness
is gone, then the flux maybe cleaned and the tile is dis-colored (if
possible)

Also try "Gun Scrubber" if a flux remover isn't readily available. Gun
Scrubber is a cleaner in an aerosol can and should be available in your
local sporting gun stores.

Thanks for replying, I got all the stickiness up with the alcohol, but there was a non sticky film left. My wile has been scrubbing it with cleanser and a scrub brush and it's not as bad as it was this morning.

The funny thing is that I've been thinking about buying some flux remover. I just built 5 PCBs and was asking at work where I could buy some and everybody there said that I didn't need it. They said to just use alcohol, but I'm not real happy with how the board looks after using it. I don't have any place locally to buy such things. I actually had a can in my hand a few weeks ago when I was out of town and then changed my mind at the last minute.

Oh well, the wife says she's making progress so we'll see. I'm just glad it wasn't carpet.

Thanks again.

If they are ceramic tile you can use acetone. Do not use it on other types
of tile or it might dissolve them.
