New GBC H65

New GBC H65

2010-07-28 by Gokhan Nalbant

Hi,

Finally, I have a GBC H65 laminator, Pulsar transfer paper and GreenTRF
folio.

I have found out that I have to mod the heating level first. This seems
allright since how to information is available on the net.

However, I am planning to use 1.6mm/0.064" epoxy which seems double the
maximum thickness that H65 can handle.

Is there a way to mod the rollers inside the laminator or I must order 0.8mm
/0.032" PCBs?

Thank you.

Gökhan

I used a "royal" laminator and modified it. The Royal has multiple
heat settings, I use "foil".

However, if you are going to make double sided boards, it may be
unnecessary to mod the laminator. I use .023 (and if I could find it,
.032) single sided board and epoxy the two sides together after
etching. This solves etching problems and eliminates the "one side is
ruined" throwaway. Alignment is relatively easy using map pins
(thicker the better, no wobble).

You could find a sheet of plain epoxy board and laminate it to the
desired thickness if needed. It could work well for heavy parts and
through hole leads.

I have the H-65 laminator and it handles .062" PCB material ok - by beveling the edges of PCB material it works just fine.

Without beveling sometimes a tad extra push is required to start the PCB into rollers, and they will "pop" a bit as the board exits the rollers, but doesn't seem to hurt anything.

I normally use .032", but do use .062" anything I need extra thick board, or if that's all I have.

The Pulsar site states that .062 will work but requires a push on the
board as it goes in and pull as it comes out, otherwise the motor will
not move the board very easily.

Thank you for all the answers.

I'll try to find 0.032" boards, but as fas as I understand there is no harm
using thicker boards.

Pushing a little bit is not a problem at all :) I used laminators from other
brands and usually they need help to pass the board through.
Best regards.
