I am pleased to announce the release of AutoTRAX Design Express - Lite. 

This version has all the features of AutoTRAX Design Express - Ultimate but is restricted to saving designs with 200 or less schematic pins and/or pads. 

There are absolutely no other restrictions and no time-out. It lasts forever! No 'nag' screens. 

You can even use it for commercial use. 

You can download AutoTRAX Design Express - Lite direct from: http://www.autotrax.kov.com/Download/DexSetup.exe

 So what's the catch? The only one is the 200 pin/pad limit, nothing else. If you wish to do larger design then AutoTRAX Design Express - Ultimate is only $99. Compare that with others!

Or there's KiCad which is also completely free and has no crippling whatsoever.

I tried downloading this program.  After the initial download, when I was to choose the second "RUN" command, I got the message the files are corrupt, choose another source for this program..

Has anyone else tried this download.

25 megabytes there is plenty of room for
corruption in the transmission !

Clicking on the icon to start it results in an
awfully long startup time.

I suspect after that I would be faced with a
very steep learning curve.

I haven't had a single problem with a corrupted download since the days of using a 1200bps modem back before there was error checking and correction. 

All PCB CAD packages have a fairly steep learning curve. If you're just starting out, give ExpressPCB a go, once you're reasonably comfortable, download KiCad and try that out. Follow one of the many tutorials and you'll pick it up fine. Don't try to skip drawing the schematic first, that and the resulting netlist will save you much frustration later.

James, I know about KiCad and several others, I sent this as it was just released on 5-12-10
and some on the list may not have received this info.

This product has the smell of death about it. The Videos page is empty. The User forum is full of nothing but spam. The Yahoo Group is locked tight and the number of posts is dwindling; probably full of spam too. Hmmm...
