Homebrew PCBs

I was reading a bit of the four layer debate...then...
could  a conductive glue be used to make the layer connection ?

There seems to be a conductive polymer that's available, but
expensive.  The "wire glue"  I've seen, but never experimented with.
Interesting thought, though.
