Looking for a supplier of solder paste - USA

Looking for a supplier of solder paste - USA

2009-02-10 by Steve Greenfield

I have a forced-air toaster oven to convert. But while I'm building a temp controller for it, I'm going to try and use a small hot air embossing gun to reflow solder some boards.

My request is for recommendations for a supplier of small quantities of solder paste, one that is either in the USA or has no problems shipping here.

Thanks,
Steve Greenfield

Hi Steve

Cash Olsen offers solder paste in a syringe: $5.00

If you are making your own brass solder paste stencils then get a small
250g jar or so. If your applying it by hand then get a syringe. Jar is
lot more economical kg/$. I found it easier to just hand solder ICs
conventionally than try applying paste with a syringe. For small batches
, nothing beats stencil solder paste printing.

I found my SynTECH syringe to be a bit too runny for stencil work,
hard to apply enough for a stencil, and certainly hard to put back the
extra when you're done ;-)

Is the jar paste thicker?

Generally the jar paste is thicker.

This is also why you must avoid buying paste on ebay, where
unscrupulous sellers stuff jar paint in syringes....
