Interesting. Have you downloaded and tried it out yet?

I found it very confusing and had a lot of trouble getting it to do
anything. It needs a great deal of work before it will be usable.

Just downloaded it to play.

It certainly isn't a useful tool yet and may never be developed far
enough. At present it just seems to be showing off the user
interface and menu system. It is not a terrible idea and may
actually be much better/faster for new users. I myself and a fan of
keyboard short cuts over mouse gestures.

However the "nudge routing" is very very interesting. I hand route a
lot of boards and I would love to have a feature like this.

I wonder what DJ thinks of it and if it might ever be on the to-do
list in PCB. It can produce boards like the ones DJ does with his
"global puller" from the outset.

The nudge routing is what I had in mind when I started on the global
puller, but I was never able to get it to the point where it could be
used that way.

If Liquid PCB is GPL, someone could merge LP's UI with PCB's backend.

I had a little play with Altium. It will let you push existing tracks
aside as you drag a new track on the board. Good fun.

Of course, it will cost you all your disposable income for 10 years and
the soul of your first-born if you want your own copy so that's not very
practical.

And your sanity.

Pulsonix does that, and also does it if you move parts around, and pushes
parts, tracks and vias out of the way. It's a lot cheaper than Altium.

I do my PCBs with Mentor Graphics Pinacle PCB @ work. A very great
tool, but I will never pay such much money for me personal. There are
a lot of very useful functions in it especially for automated
assisted manual routing. And I'm sure, I use only a little subset of
all possibilities ;-)
