fuming any ink with oil corosive super glue fumes results

fuming any ink with oil corosive super glue fumes results

2007-03-16 by vsmvdd

it works!!!!

i made a deep plastic box for fuming with super glue
{like finger prints}
and it worked the print went black and hard

i used a solder iron for fast fume creation
added a 1n5407 in series with a switch to short over it
with the live in the plug
to half the total heat of the iron {25w}
to ~12watts

two drips of super glue5 {loctite}
on its end {i added a little cup to the iron}

and set the pcb in the fume area the iron will produce
using a wire stand {1mm ecw}

so much for the doubting toms

go give it a try with mispro prints see if its better
for fine lines

anyway ill etch it after dinner
and post all photos in my yahoo site then,,,, {8pm gmt or so}

on initial inspection even thin broken tracking seems hard

as it appears the resins in the inks
{basicaly the polymer its made from}

goes black as expected

it may turn out pigment {plastic} inks are better

update

well ill leave it at least 1 hr to etch as funny stuff is on the tv

few things

i used a hydro lcoking lid {snap lock rubber seal}

the cyonide in two drop of super glue
inhalled all at once will make you feel ill
it wont kill you for sure

2-3 drips in a plastic box fuming unit
will treat 5 or so A4 boards on a frame {this isnt my remit}
the rest is thru plating by drilling and electroplate first
making sure the fills plates are level with the original covered board
above all in this whole thing so far i recon level super clean
prints to board using ANY ink
and im surprised knowone mentioned it with the last genoration of
inks used
as these will also fuse this way with super glue fumes
i looked thru this whole forum and see nobody doing this stage
to 'older' inks
archiving inks arent needed
but i notice this method being encased for the future as a recovery
method to bably corroded pcb from 200 years ago year 2000 printers

i was a bit peed off when the inks washed

but this is great....!

ill etch maybe tomorrow

as our red nose day is on for comics
they performs for free and a whole tv night of great fun
and lots of donations lets hope its a good one for the uk
and abroud
....

a nice end of the week for me for sure

...
so far on in this already
160mm {normal is 297mm}{cd is 12x12cm}
X 21 pcb as a cd print action next....
using a full A4 drag

maybe some rails added carefully to my printer

using some silicon slider service spray
for coin accpetors is cool also and the rails and mecha

....

I can't believe it until you show etched results ;-)

Incidentally i have loads and loads of superglue in the freezer that i
will probably never be able to use (500g), so i would not mind using it
for PCBs. I do not know much about chemistry, but i still doubt this
treated ink will resist etching.
I would definitely want a fuming cupboard that is extracted to the outside.
