There are some design pictures of a homemade hand-brake in the files
section. did anyone make this, is there a project page with more
pictures?

"bump"

I'm very interested in this as well. Or an off-the-shelf product that
can do the job. I've heard of people using paper cutters but I can't
imagine them cutting FR-4 well at all...

Hand Brakes are intended for making bends in metal for making boxes,
etc. Not for *cutting* metal. You want a 'metal shear' for something
like that.

I do use a paper cutter for my FR4 boards. Buy at least a 12 inch so
you have some leverage with the long handle. Even then cutting more
than about 8 inches is tough. Do not buy one of those plastic ones.
Buy one with the heavy cast iron blade arm and base. The plastic ones
bend dramaticaly on 1/16 board. You can cut the 1/32 board with a
good pair of scissors or sheetmetal cutter, and cuts beautifuly on a
paper cutter.

I also cut FR-4 with a good old-fashioned style paper cutter. I would
prefer a good sheet metal shear with a foot treadle, but the paper
cutter is far cheaper and takes up less space.
