Photosensitizing boards

Photosensitizing boards

2003-05-11 by Chris Graham

What's the easiest way to photosensitize copper boards and get high quality
results? I'm making double sided boards with traces down to 10 mils.

Laminate photoresist film? Applying some liquid/spray solution?

Can anyone suggest sources or product names? I'm in Canada, but any
suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

spraying will work.
also if the laquer is sold in bottles (not pressurized) spraying gives uniform layer.

if making small quantities use pressurized cans sold to use as they are.

be aware of dust, keep for drying in box to prevent dust from settling down. maybe put in box and spray
in there, then put lid on.

have no idea how the film works.

Chris,
I do not know of a supplier in Canada, but this link -->
http://www.web-tronics.com/printed-circuit-board-supplies.html has
inexpensive pre-sensitized positive photo etch boards. Using a black light
will do a good job on these and you do not need a dark room. These can
withstand a little time in a room with the lights on with no damage. The
developer used is Anhydrous Sodium Metasilicate. They sell it as their part
number posdev.
There are probably other very good sources, but I see no one has answered
your question as yet. Hope this gives you a start in your search.
-Mike
