old plotter

2006-11-10 by Lez

Few years ago I bought an old calcomp model 83(m83)

I fiddled with it and it did a self test.

well here I am five years or so later and I finally deiced to try it
again, but cant remember what button combination I used to get a self
test out of it.

It says rs232 on th back with dip switches for baud rate etc.

Does anyone have one of thse still, I'm wondering what type of serial
cable to use on it first, and more importantly, what to use as a
driver with XP.

ISTR that Calcomp got bought up by Summatech.

Might do a Goggle for the drivers.

Calcomp is still around, though they've apparently changed their name to
Calgraph.

I recently acquired a Calcomp techjet, (36" inkjet plotter), and have
been trying to find drivers for it.

The two best resources I've found are:
http://www.printer-drivers.com/companies/186.htm
http://www.calgraphinc.com/Support/cgdrivers.htm

Winline is supposed to support Calcomp stuff too, but I've had no
success with the demo, Your experience may vary.
http://www.winline.com/

Good Luck.

If you get anywhere, let me know. I'm stumped as far as my plotter goes.

Try http://www.driverguide.com. It's saved my ass and
sanity a number of times. A percursory search didn't
get me very far, but Calcomp's there and I didn't look
very hard.

Free registration is required, but just give it the
addy to your spambox.

So they finally stopped accepting user "drivers" and pass "all" for
access...

Oh well, what's safersignup for..

Can not connect to it at say 300baud on com1 with hyperterminal and type it
a command to see if I actually have a working cable between the two?
