Reynolds release - anyone ever etch after the transfer?

Reynolds release - anyone ever etch after the transfer?

I was reading some posts on the reynolds release foil - did anyone
ever try etching a board after transferring? If so, how did it go?
What printer/etc? I saw someone had problems with bubbling after
transferring - possibly overheating? the foil would transfer the heat
faster and better than paper.. just speculation, I have a handful of
boards to make and don't want to invest $15 in photo paper (no inkjet).

try glossy paper (catalog/magazine) first.
make sure it gets sticky when wet!

I will try that, what's a good example of such a magazine? I picked up
a couple laser transparency sheets at staples the other day - figured
they would be worth a try. I'll run them through our LJ 5000 here and
the laminator tonight, see what happens on my test PCB

I went ahead and picked up the reynolds foil, and comparing it to the
transparency sheets I had (and the slick backing paper with those) it
did very well. even with my okipage 4W I got an acceptable PCB, and
it's needed a new drum for about 4,000 pages. A little patching up
with a sharpie was necessary but definitely not the fault of the
transfer medium, my printer simply leaves streaks and light spots. I
had no problems at all etching with HCl+H2O2 solution. I did wipe with
denatured alcohol before etching but that's it.

I am more than pleased - for $3.29 I can make my 3 PCB's and bake some
potatoes :) I did notice one thing, not a gripe though: with the foil,
after printing with my printer set to the darkest setting, I ended up
with too much toner and it would squeeze out a little and a few very
close traces ran together. I just gently scraped a path between and it
came out fine. Surprisingly, the stamped-in logo on the foil didn't
affect the transfers adversely.
