If the Epson R220 does prove out for direct to pcb inkjet resist
printing.

Here is a another vendor that offers a complete CIS package for the
Epson R220, spongeless cartridges with self resetting chip, tanks, etc
for a reasonable price. Shipping costs are high, but the overall price
is reasonable

You are better off getting a CIS from a real company such as MIS or
Weink rather than off of eBay, a lot of them are cheap knockoffs of
the higher quality ones. Remember (And note I have nothing against
this seller, it's just a warning), even if the seller gets many
positive reviews, that doesn't mean that the item didn't break down
three or six months later when you can't go back and change the
feedback. If you get it through a real retailer, and it breaks, you
have a better chance of getting it replaced.

Also, make SURE that the chips are specified for the R220. While the
R220 and R340 both take the /exact/ same ink tanks as the R200 and
R300/R320, Epson has apparently changed the circuitry enough that it
will reject the original auto-reset aftermarket chips for the R200. It
doesn't seem like it was hard for them to create a workaround, but if
you wind up with R200 chips, they will not work.

You could replace the auto-reset chips with the correct ones. Its actually
pretty easy to do.

only a set of auto reset chips costs like... lots ($60 at inksupply.com).
It is much cheaper to pull all the normal chips out, solder them together,
and use the PC software the reset the stack from time to time.
Of course it would be even better to put a microcontroller inside the
printer to intercept the signals, if you have the time.
