Place to have small quantity board made for others to buy

Place to have small quantity board made for others to buy

2006-02-28 by Brian Schmalz

OK, I'm not trying to go way off-topic here, but I don't know who else
to ask about this. I have a small board that I have designed (and built
many of by hand at home using TT) and I've had Olimex make several of
them. Now other people want to buy bare boards and build their own
boards. I have no interest in being a 'business' and selling these
things. Are there any companies or organizations out there that will
make and sell blank boards for your hobby circuit? I.e., I want to find
a company that will keep some small quantity of these boards in stock,
and have a web-store that people can buy single quantities from. Does
such a thing exist?

Thanks for any leads-

*Brian

Far Circuits in the US does something like that, mainly for radio amateurs:

It's a commercial outfit, but pretty friendly to the hobby circuit.
Depending on the type of project (micro based), you may want to offer it
to sparkfun:

Doesn't Olimex allow reorders based only on the original order number?
Maybe you could publish the order number and allow others to simply
order whatever quantity they want directly from Olimex?

Yah, they do. But I've got 14 boards on one Olimex panel - I don't think
anybody would want to buy 14 of them at once! :)

I think they can do that. I won the monthly Olimex competition on the
PICList some time ago, and Olimex gave me the order number if people wanted
to order the boards. I did make a couple of mistakes with the hole sizes for
connectors, so the boards won't be much use. Olimex drill holes should have
a plating allowance added and I forgot about it in a couple of cases. Most
other manufacturers use finished hole sizes - much more sensible. I'd
already made my own PCB, so it didn't matter to me.

Olimex stocks a number of different boards (microcontroller development
stuff, OpenEEG project, etc), both as populated and bare boards; they
might not have a problem with stocking another one.

And arn“t they picky about the specifications list for manufacturing,
been there and got some boards with to small holes. It is as you say
*finished hole sizes* normally from other suppliers.
