Problem with Electronix Express

Problem with Electronix Express

2006-02-15 by sbdwag

Anybody else had problems with this company www.elexp.com. I places a
order for pressnpeel some other chemicals and pcb boards one week ago
today. Got a confirmation email two days later. Decided to cancle the
order because my cc had not been charged two days ago.

Ive gotton no replys. Just the original order conformation.

By the way thank you for this great group. Im well on my way to making
my own pcbs because of all of you.

So, you ordered, got confirmation a couple of days later, a couple of
days after that you canceled because your CC didn't show a charge yet.

Please never order anything from me.

Seriously, it sounds more like you are creating a problem. A week ago
was Wednesday, two days later was Friday, then there was a weekend in
there (in most countries), then on Monday you canceled the order.

Most companies do not charge your card until it ships, I think they
are not allowed to. Often the order is in the pipeline and
uncancellable for a day or two before it is in the hands of UPS or
FedEx or whomever, then it may take a day for the CC to get charged
depending on what time of day it was shipped, and it may take another
day for it to show up in your CC's system.

Reminds me of the guy in Australia who bought a 50 pound old tape
reverb from me on eBay. I emailed him it had shipped and gave him all
pertinent numbers, two days later he called his credit card company
and contested the charge because it wasn't there yet. It ended up
costing -me- a lot of money but he got what he ordered.

So please, never order anything from me.

Re: Problem with Electronix Express

When I order form Jameco or Mouser or almost any other websites here
in the USA I get same day shipping and immediate responce. It took
them until Friday (over 48 hours) just to send a response to my
order. I recieved no indication of when to expect shipping or if
anything was on backorder.

And I have yet to recieve any communication on whether my order was
canceled.

I did several searches and finally found another person complaining
about the same thing. Over a week later his order was finally shipped
with no responce from them.

In this day and age a company simply cannot survive unless they
provide prompt communication and timely shipping.

And dont worry If you feel this is acceptable I wont be ordering from
you anyway

Dennis,
I've ordered from them three times, and they are s-l-o-w to deliver; 2
to 2 1/2 weeks, in my case. I've been spoiled by Mouser, but they
don't carry Press-n-Peel, only Toner Transfer stuff, with which I'm
not familiar.

Sigh. Do they claim same-day shipping? I'm not saying it's good or bad
business, but legally they really only need to inform you if it is
going to take longer than 4 weeks if they never claimed same-day shipping.

Not everyone is Mouser or Jameco. More and more businesses on the web
are a guy and his garage.

I'd suggest that you pick up the phone and call them.

Futurlec did very close to the same to me. They did ship, and talking
to others that is the pattern for them. I will probably still find a
reason to order from them again, depending on what I need and the
price, I just know not to count on a speedy order.

Steve

There are way too many other good supply sources that offer much more.
I looked at my orders from Jameco over the last six months and have
placed 14 orders. I live in Indiana 2000 miles from California. Of the
14 orders only one was not recieved in two working days. That
is ordering on Wednesday and reciveing on FRIDAY. All were shipped
USPS Priority. The one that took longer than two working days to
recieve was because the post office misrouted it. I depend on having
components shipped in a timely manner and in the future when my
business is even more demanding than it is now it will be even more
time critical.

It will even harder for them to compete in the market unless they step
up to the plate. Good prices alone are not enough. I simply do not
have time for this type of company.

I second what Dennis said about Jameco. If you place an order M-F
before 6PM Eastern time, it ships the same day or you get a $5 gift
certificate (excludes backordered items and credit approval
delays). With USPS Priority shipping, it should be 2-3 days to
anywhere in the US; but this depends on USPS performance, not
Jameco's.

They take suggestions to add to their products and will do special
orders (with minimum quantity requirements).

Jameco will price match down to their cost. The only thing I have
problems with is the occasional contact with Customer Service. They
must be outsourcing this because it usually takes more than the
initial contact to get them to understand an issue.

I've been dealing with them off and on for 30 years.

Regards,
Dennis

I agree we are pretty lucky with "BIg Three" in component
distribution. Often I get the parts before I am ready to actually use
them (board not complete, etc). Used to be the other way around. Sure
is nice to have them inventory more and me less. Jameco has been
outstanding in the fast shipping department. I get orders as quick
from them as I do from Digikey and I am in Nebraska. I know that the
carrier has a lot to do with this but I am still impressed. Most of
the deliveries in Nebraska are still by wagon trains and there are
still the renegade uprisings the wagon trains have to deal with. :)

I agree with you. I do think you should have tried calling them before
canceling the order.

Active Electronics lost me as a customer years ago after making me
wait a month for my order. No good reasons were given, phone calls
resulted in what sounded like BS to me. But I did call them.

They never responded to my email cancellation. I fully expect to be
charged for the order in a week or so. If I get the product I can use
it and if I do not no big deal either. I already order pressnpeel
direct from Technics and got a great deal on single sided pcb on ebay.
The pcb is already here Think Ill try direct TT etching with 2 parts
H202 and 1 part 31% HCL while im waiting for the pressnpeel. Wifes
gonna be at here Sons in Chicago all weekend so Ive got full use of
the Iron Again many thanks to all of you on this forum. I would not
know where to begin without all of you.

I can't say I wouldn't have done the same, hindsight is 20:20, or so
we think. ;')
