What takes off that 'residue' left behind from the toner using inkjet paper?

What takes off that 'residue' left behind from the toner using inkjet paper?

2006-02-11 by braincambre500

Hello all,

My toner method is coming along real fine, and want to thank all the
ones who have taken time to help me through the process.

I now got it down pat!

The only thing of concern is that filmy coating left behind on my PCB,
after I scrubb off the inkjet paper from the board. I tried
alcohol/WD-40/household oil/and even an eraser...now the eraser works
pretty fair...but I sometimes scrub off bits of the toner also. I am
wondering what substance is this 'filmy' stuff made of? That way, I
can buy a certain chemical that will attack it.

Any has knowledge in this area?

Thank you again for all the help!

Patrick

Hi Brian,

Try soaking the board in water and automatic
dishwashing detergent. Then use a green pad scrubber.

The alkalinity in the automatic dishwashing detergent
dissolves the binder/coating left from the paper.

TANSTAAFL!

Hello Sir Myc,

Thank you very much for your advice. I will do as you
say.

I just bought my laserjet and am using inkjet paper,
and everything is coming out fine. It's just a little
tough getting that 'film' off. But I will definately
give that a try. Thank you again!

a friend,

Patrick

This film is only there with glossy papers, and is harder or easier to
remove depending on the paper.
If you try matte paper there won't be this film, but the surface is
slightly rougher.
