Hi Cristian,
I have now obtained all the components to start
building the EDM + CNC PCB spark eroder.
Hope to have this running in a week or two. I have
used two IPS5751's as I eventually decided that Carl
Richards suggestion of using scr's could wait until
the system is proved. When it is working the I can
think about speed.
When the system is running, (I hope to integrate
stepper increments with spark discharges rather than a
free running spark discharge), I'll put up the
circuit. I think our EDM-PCB guru has gone into
hibernation.
All the best
Roger

Could you give me the schematics? Cristian I have now obtained all the components to start

I don't want to flood the newsgroups with this, and its kind of a one off post, but in case it's useful to anyone building an EDM or CNC machine in the UK (or anywhere where 240V is the norm..) is thinking of building a machine, I have some transformers I picked up off ebay a few days ago. They are marked Airlink Transformers 027-724425 part No 2190 They are 120VA 240 V primary 22 V secondary toroidal transformers thats Ok for 6 Amps.. They are complete with mounting hardware and are NOS never been used. For my EDM I am ditching the original transformer in the machine I have been building and I am going to put 4 of these in the box and run the outputs to a patch board (OK so I'll probably use a terminal block for now!) That way I'll be able to run a good range of voltages. I will also be using one in my CNC drilling machine.. which uses an LR driver for the steppers.. There is plenty of room for extra windings if you wanted to get 12 or 5 Volt windings on there too.. If anyone is interested, I will sell them on for £10 for 4 ... Shipping extra.. and they weigh 1.2 Kg each :-( That will give you the option of 88 and 66 volts at 6A 44 Volts at 12A (twice) 22 volts at 24A and I have tested them and they are OK serialed or paralleled I reckon thats a good deal as they must be over £10 each new...
