Hi,

nice work. what did you pay for the ways? is it a converted x/y table like
sold for drill presses?

Just wow!

Kinda hard for me to figure what is made by you.

$199.00. Here's a link at Enco (part #891-4153);

http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?
PARTPG=INLMKD&PMPXNO=3904183&PMAKA=891-4153

However, if you Google >enco 2536< you'll see hits for another cheaper
($120.00) one they sell being used for CNC drilling. Here's a link at
Enco (part #201-2536);

http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PMAKA=201-
2536&PMPXNO=953096&PARTPG=INLMK3

Yes, they're the cheapest incarnation of dovetail linear slides you'll
probably find with Acme leadscrews and nuts thrown in.

Great looking machine - very nicly done!

What servo motors and drivers are you using? The drivers have been a
tough find for me so far - at least in a price range I can afford :-(

A word of warning, the end brackets are steel on cast iron. mine
ground into the cast iron within a month. It is crying our for
thrust bearings, and they are a simple add-on and a good fix.

Another note is that Grizzley has the spare parts. screws, nuts and
cast iron ends.

Dave

ps: my guess on the servos is IMSERV ?

They all aren't created equally that's for sure. Which particular cross
slide are you referring to?

>ps: my guess on the servos is IMSERV ?

The driver boards are from IMSERV.

There are two basic X/Y tables, one has a 5x12 table, the other has a
6 x 18 table. (use-enco.com  p/n  201-2826 $68.95)

the 6x18 table is the one I see most often as it is not that much
larger.  p/n 201-2536 - $119.95

It is made by someone ?? and private labelded for Palmgren and they to
a top notch job, and sell it for $400. Phase-II does a fair job
fitting and sell it for $199, there there are the Chineese knock-off's
that are very rough and sell for less than $125.00

it is the cheap ones, and I am pretty sure including the Phase-II that
 would benifit from a thrust bearing ( about $5.oo from Enco) on each
axis. It would greatly reduce forces and would also reduce backlash.

The nut is not an anti-backlash, but that is not too hard to fix, and
there are quite a few places on the web that discuss how to do that.

>There are two basic X/Y tables

Enco sells at least four that I know of;

1. 201-2826 (Phase-II, $68.95)
2. 201-2536 (?, $119.95)
3. 201-2524 (?, $153.95)
4. 891-4153 (Palmgren, $198.95)

I have #1 and #4 above. Ordered and returned #3 above. The only one not
used by me is #2 above. The advertised picture and specs for #4 are not
correct, it is not the same as #2. #4 is the one used in my CNC machine.

You can even change out the Acme stuff for ball screws if so inclined.

obviously it is very heavy and while nicely done, it resembles a
milling machine. drilling pcb's doesn't require so much rigidity nor
vertical squareness but it costs money and weight. mike
