sodium hydroxide, lye, will break down the lignen (iirc) in paper.  Of
course that's the opposite of an acid so it doesn't meet the strict
definition of your request.  I suspect you are using the term acid a
bit loosely.  Lye is used for paper production and is the also the
main ingredient in drano.  I believe it doesn't attack copper.

But but but, please be very careful with lye.  Not only does it work
on paper, it does an even nastier job on flesh.  This stuff is far
nastier than any of the etchants we use.
