Thanks for all this info. I'm fairly new to making PCBs, but do a lot of PCB repair work. I've gone through soo many radioshack $7 irons. I had an Ungar iron for years, and Weller refurbished it for me when it developed a fault. The tips used to last for ages - they were much better than those for the Weller irons.
