Homebrew PCBs

I have been using ammonium persulfate as my etchant.  I now have 
accumulated a quantity of used etchant.

Is there some way to neutralize the used etchant before I dispose of 
it?  For example, can I readily convert it into harmless ammonium 
sulfate and copper sulfate?
