I have succesfully used paint.
Together with a good quality artwork brush it works fine.
Maybe nailpolish work ? Small bottles easy to steal at home ,brush
included. But beware of the mrs.
It's said to work with strong acids but I've never tried.
Works well with ferrochlorid.
After etching I remove the paint with Aceton (Propanon CH3COCH3).
