and oddly enough,
muriatic acid (and peroxide) is an etchant.

Go to the hardware store and buy a bottle of muriatic acid, peroxide at the grocery. 2 parts hydrogen peroxide and 1 part muriatic acid. Always add the acid to the peroxide to prevent splashing. Wear gloves and eye protection. Use is a well ventilated area. The mixture is clear so it is easy to see when the etching is done. Mix enough to cover the board. Toss it when your are done as it is very cheap. Don't poor down the drain. Makes a great cleaner for sidewalk stains.
