Pure Ethyl Alcohol (Ethanol) will be the hardest to find in the US. All the pharmacies in the US now carry IPA (Iso Propyl Alcohol) which is not Ethanol. 96% purity limit for current ethanol is not by accident. It is the maximum purity that you can obtain by distillation. In order to get 99%, you need to use a different process that will go beyond the 96% limit. I do not know the english name of the process. When I was in France, 99% Ethanol was available at any pharmacy and was called “Alcool rectifié” which translate approximately by rectified alcohol.
