Just an update on this, I receieved the second batch of rivets I ordered 
from a Taobao seller, and surprisingly they fit my 0.8mm holes perfectly.

The price, roughly (part of a larger order) $1.18 US per hundred, 
including shipping.

Now I just have to think of how to set the back side of the rivets cleanly.
