It's not that heat resistant.

In stained glass it's bent around the glass forming a U-shape, and once
that's covered in solder it doesn't matter if the adhesive fails, it's not
going anywhere.

Tiffany used beeswax to hold the foil in place until it was soldered.  Some
of the glass in his lamps rattle because the beeswax evaporated over time.

The OP may find this interesting:
http://hackaday.com/2011/09/12/glass-pcbs/.  He was just gluing the copper
foil to the glass, but he did try the foil method as suggested.  Can't
remember his outcome...
