yes, great idea. I did a quick search of eBay - you can get these things in 1.1mm 1.3mm 1.5mm 1.8mm as well as 2mm and larger too as well as various lengths and materials - gold or silver plated or sterling silver. I will have to spend a bit of time looking through the various and will have to check with the local arts and craft and jewelry supply for some examples. cheers, Graham ve3gtc On Wed, 2011-06-29 at 21:58 +0000, sailingto wrote: > That is a GREAT idea Ted - I've still got plenty of vias a buddy gave me, but I'll have to check those out. > > 73 de Ken H> > > --- In Homebrew_PCBs@yahoogroups.com, "kx4om" <wirehead73@...> wrote: > > > > These aren't rivets specifically designed for through-hole vias, but they work pretty well. They are 2mm in O.D. silver cylinders, .077" in length sold at Hobby Lobby for jewelry use here in the US. They are OK for the thinner sizes of double-sided boards. They are sold as crimp tubes, under the Westrim Crafts name. A bag of 62 is $1.49. They are very soft (I squished the one I measured with the digital caliper) and accept solder extremely well. A light touch with miniature Phillips screwdrivers applied simultaneously on both ends will flare their ends in the hole, keeping them in place until solder is applied. > > > > Ted, KX4OM > > >
