I have always used a glass baking dish with a cover as an etching tank. Of course if you are doing a lot of larger boards you might not find exactly what you need. They are not expensive. I have read about using a zip-lock bag to etch and I plan to try that the next time. It sounds like a good solution that is both clean and frugal. A lot depends on how big your boards are.
