Not a full vacuum, but a venturi setup off a shop vac (just stuck a poly tube into the end, it's enough). A couple of inches of vacuum is enough to hold the film tight against the copper. I also stack up card stock under the pcb to get it all to the right height for an even squish. Of course, I only expose one side at a time, using a few small pre-drilled holes for alignment.
